Challenges Graphic Designers are Facing…
There are many designers today that are creative, but haven’t been exposed to the printing process. Designers are expected to come up with creative concepts 24-7, be proficient in the creative suite and know how to set-up files properly for the printer. The more accurately they set up their files, the quicker the printing process will be. This saves time and money which makes the client very happy! At the workshop we’ll be discussing how to set-up your files perfectly for print.
Touring a full-service commercial printer in person gives a designer a leg-up over other designers. West Press has 6-color offset presses, digital presses, large format printers, letterpress capabilities and more. By fully understanding the printer’s capabilities – you will be more capable of suggesting solutions for your clients next project.
An exciting benefit of partnering with a local commercial printer versus an online printer is being able to work face-to-face with an Account Executive. They are experts at knowing which format sizes could help save money, which papers are best suited, and any other finishing techniques to make the piece really stand out. Designers love paper and can be overwhelmed by the plethora of options. Commercial printers like West Press have very beneficial relationships with the paper companies. They have a library of paper swatches that anyone is welcome to see. The paper rep stops in almost every day and is extremely knowledgeable.
