After two years of trade shows either going dark or being held remotely, our calendars are suddenly filling with these important opportunities to engage with customers in person.
It’s probably been a while since you thought about your booth and ways you can make the most of your investment when you attend shows. Here are a few thoughts to consider as you get back on the road.
Showcase your brand
Your brand is what sets you apart from your competitors. It’s what you do and it’s the people who you have doing it. Use your established company colors, fonts and artwork. Have the people staffing your booth decked out in shirts that prominently feature your logo. When designing your booth, think about the look and feel. Your booth artwork should reflect your work and target your audience. You want customers to identify with you and your brand. If they do, they will stay on your side.
Draw them in
You’re going to be in an arena hall or hotel ballroom with many other businesses that have the same goal. Make your space stand out. Use bold photos and colors without getting too gaudy. Something as simple as a tablecloth with your logo can make a big difference. If you have the capability, create videos or a slide show that encapsulates what your business does. If you have giveaways, work with a professional to find something unique. We all have enough pens and mousepads. Long before you arrive at the show, post plenty of notice on social media that you’ll be there.
Get engaged
You aren’t there to sit behind a table and ignore people as they walk past. Get out front and talk with them. Have hands-on demonstrations if your product allows. If you have the room, set up chairs and tables where you can have sit-down conversations with your customers. Use the opportunity to preview or introduce a product or service, something that will create buzz. Attendees will then go home and tell their friends and business associates about you. That’s why you’re there in the first place, right?
